Trichomanes
saxifragoides

Trichomanes saxifragoides is distributed in South India, North India, Sri Lanka, Japan, Malesia, Polynesia, Australia (NE-Queensland, NE-New South Wales), Madagascar, Comores, Tanzania, Java, Philippines and Thailand. Manickam and Irudayaraj (1992) has reported this species from the Kolli hills and the Sengalthiri hills of Tamil Nadu. From Kerala the only record of this plant was from the Mlappara Estate slopes in Idukki district (Nair et al., 1992). Now it is also known to occur in Boothathankettu forests of Ernakulam and Attupara of Thiruvananthapuram district, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary of Idukki district, etc of Kerala. It grows on wet rocks as well as on the base of moist tree trunks in evergreen forests. |
