Trichomames plicatum  is distributed in South India, Japan, Malesia, Polynesia and Oceania.

This is one of the most common species of Hymenophyllaceae  in South India. It is found growing luxuriantly either as epilithic or as epiphytic throughout the evergreen forests of South India in moist and fully shaded areas.
