Seen in dense patches of overlapping individuals in moist rocks in hilly areas; thallus deep green with purple margins, thallus 10-30 mm long and 3-8 mm broad, lobes oblong or obovate with emarginated or bilobed apex, margins ascending, crenulated, ventral surface purple, scales purple, in one row on each side of the midrib, male receptacle at the apex of a lobe, small, stalk of the female receptacle about 30 mm long, receptacle hemispherical.
