Plants thallose, very large, terrestrial near streams or actually under flowing water, dark green prostrate overlapping in large expanded patches. Thallus flat, repeatedly dichotomous, apex notched, midrib very prominent, apex deeply emarginated, male receptacle disciform, depressed in the centre, subsessile with bristle on the margins, much like the female receptacle when young, female receptacle sessile when young, stalked when mature, stalk two furrowed, top covered with scales, Receptacle disciform, convex with few bristle like hairs.
